Common Maintenance
Tether Termination
The tether connection on the crawler is also used as the strain relief mechanism. Due to normal wear and tear the connection inside the strain relief may degrade over time as well as any extra abuse to the tether may require a re termination of the tether. See the video below on how to re terminate the tether connection. Retermination kits can be purchased from your reseller or directly from Deep Trekker by contacting support@deeptrkker.com
Note: This crawler termination disclaimer must be followed for any powered reels. Failure to do so may cause damage to the reelPTZ/PT Camera Lens Cleaning
The PTZ/PT camera lenses are made of sapphire and it are tougher than the acrylic lens in the rear camera. However, we recommend you use soft cloth such as microfiber to clean the lenses. Alcohol should be fine to use to clean the lens in this case as well as any other glass cleaning products.
Rear Camera Lens Cleaning
The rear camera lens is made of acrylic. Do not use alcohol or any other abrasive cleaning solutions as it will damage the acrylic and could crack the lens with long term use. Only use microfiber or soft cloth with acrylic cleaners or water with mild dish soap.
Wheel Cleaning
Wheels should be checked after inspections to make sure they are clear of any debris before the next inspection. Debris caught in the wheel treads or between the body and the wheel will reduce traction and increase the power consumption of the crawler, which in turn will shorten its battery life. Cleaning the wheels should also prevent or reduce any corrosion of ferrous materials. Thus, make sure the wheels are as clean as possible after each job.
If debris is found in the wheels, use the instructions shown above to remove the wheels and remove debris.
On the A-200 it may be required to remove the hubs to remove debris that may have gotten behind them. As well it may be required to clean the tracks and tensioning system of the A-150.
For instructions on how to clean these items watch the video below.
Cold Weather Maintenance
Using the crawlers and cold weather environments may present counter issues. For recommendations on using the crawlers in cold wet environments, see this guide.
Track Replacement
Follow the video below for instructions on replacing your A-150 tracks
Track Tensioning
Track tensioning is an important maintenance step on any A-150 crawler. Anytime a track is replaced, or the tensioner assembly has been cleaned or had parts replaced the track pretensioner must be set.
Follow this guide for steps on how to set the pretension on an A-150 crawler.
