Calibration
Calibrating the Counter Reel
Note: The calibration distance is different depending on if you are in metric or imperial units. Which every units you have set as the default in your controller are the instructions that you should follow. 30ft does not equal 10m.Your counter reel will come from the factory calibrated, but over time the reel may come out of
calibration due to mechanical wear and changes in the tether. If your reel is equipped with the
calibration feature, you may follow this procedure to calibrate the reel.
For the calibration procedure you will need an open and flat space more than 12m (40 ft) long, your crawler plugged into the reel and an accurate measuring device to measure out 10.0m (30ft).
Identify which units of measure your controller is set to.
Mark the spot on the ground directly under the tether connection with tape/paint. This will be your zero point.
Place the Reel approximately 2 meters (6.5ft) behind the zero point.
Measure 10.0m (30ft) in front of the zero point as accurately and straight as possible so it aligns with the zero point and the reel. Mark this location with tape/paint as the point you’ll calibrate to 10.0m (30ft)
Set the zero position by holding the Reel Reset button until the distance readout says 0M (0ft)
Drive the crawler to the 10.0m (30ft) and align thetether connection to the tape the same way you did with the zero point mark.
Calibrate the distance by navigating to:
In the Bridge Controller:
FACTORY MENU (FN + Main Light + Aux Light) → PRODUCTION CALIBRATION→ CALIBRATE REEL.
Press the Enter button. After calibrating 10.0m (30ft) should appear on the display.
In the web application:
Activate service mode, and then Choose the “calibrate reel distance” option.
If the distance did not calibrate properly, try the process again to make sure it was done right. Otherwise, the reel may be in need of service. Contact Deep Trekker™ support or your reseller.
Camera Head Joint Calibration
The pan tilt zoom and pan tilt camera may need to be calibrated from time to time. A factory calibration will be done on each and every camera head, but if erroneous data is being presented from the camera head follow the steps below. Each movement joint is calibrated independently.
Access the calibration menu
In the Bridge Controller:
FACTORY MENU (FN + Main Light + Aux Light) → PRODUCTION CALIBRATION→ CALIBRATE JOINT X.
Press the Enter button.
In the web application:
Activate service mode, and then Choose the “calibrate Joint X” option.
The camera will move through a range of motions and auto calibrate.
Elevating Arm Calibration
The Elevating Arm may need to be calibrated from time to time. A factory calibration will be done on each and every one, but if erroneous data is being presented from the arm, follow the steps below.
Access the calibration menu
In the Bridge Controller:
FACTORY MENU (FN + Main Light + Aux Light) → PRODUCTION CALIBRATION→ CALIBRATE ELEVATING ARM.
Press the Enter button.
In the web application:
Activate service mode, and then Choose the “calibrate Elevating Arm” option.
The Arm will move through a range of motions and auto calibrate.
Active Freewheel Calibration
The Crawler AFW system may need to be calibrated from time to time. A factory calibration will be done on each and every one, but if the crawler seems to be fighting entering retrieval mode or is dragging on retrieval, follow the steps below.
Ensure there is 5-10ft of space behind the crawler to drive. This process with auto drive the crawler slowly in reverse to measure rolling resistance.Access the calibration menu
In the Bridge Controller:
FACTORY MENU (FN + Main Light + Aux Light) → PRODUCTION CALIBRATION→ CALIBRATE AFW.
Press the Enter button.
Follow on screen instructions
In the web application:
Activate service mode, and then Choose the “calibrate AFW” option.
Follow on screen instructions
The wheels will rotate and auto calibrate the system.
Follow all on screen instructions about wheel size requirements for AFW calibration.
10" wheels for the A-200
8" wheels for the A-150
